I am currently in charge of the Business of Art program the Maple Grove Arts Center. This program offers local artists the opportunity to sell their artwork in Maple Grove businesses. This program not only benefits the artists in rotation, but also gives businesses quality artwork to display and helps expose the community to local art.
I simply fell in love with Marco Mazzoni’s handling of the colored pencil medium and the female form. His combination of muted and chromatic colors in cool tones with black voids has inspired me. His combination of female form hybridized with natural objects creates a jarring juxtaposition of seemingly disconnected elements.
I curated an Emerging Artist Exhibition for Three Sisters Eclectic Arts in Lowertown St. Paul, MN. This showcase included works of budding artists around the Maple Grove, Minnesota area. It was made up of artworks from students ages 15-18 and displayed a variety of media including painting, photography, and pastel. The goal of this show was to give students the vital exposure to the art community that is needed as young artists.
Maple Grove Arts Center received a grant for this community art project. Maple Grove artist Christina Hankins led this community-wide art installation in the windows of Maple Grove businesses. The original artwork concept is based on the work of Los Angeles artist Cheryl Walker.
My work is now up and ready for sale at Three Sisters Eclectic Arts in Lowertown St. Paul! Stop by when you are in the cities to see the variety of artwork for sale by both established and emerging artists.
I curated the 2nd annual Student Art Show at the Maple Grove Arts Center. This exhibition included works from students across the community and surrounding areas. The show represents a broad range of media including painting, drawing, sculpture, and photography.
